How we work
- 1Quote. Text a photo to (914) 449-4334 or use the form. A written price with fabric listed separately usually comes back the same business day.
- 2Fabric. Choose from our sample books, in your apartment if you like, or supply your own material.
- 3Schedule. We set a pickup window that fits your building, and provide a certificate of insurance where one is required.
- 4Workshop. Frame, springs, foam, sewing and finishing are all done in house, with progress photos while the piece is with us.
- 5Delivery. The piece comes back placed in the room, wrapping removed. Anything found under the old cover was reported before extra work, never after.
Reupholstery in a New York apartment
New York furniture is bought for the room, not the house, so it is often the exact right size for an alcove, a window bay or the one wall that fits a sofa. When the fabric wears out, replacing the piece means finding another one that fits and getting it up the stairs. Reupholstering keeps the fit and the frame and gives you the fabric you actually want.
Our workshop handles the whole job: frames reglued, springs retied, new webbing and foam, and the cover cut, sewn and fitted with matched pattern repeats. Custom headboards, benches, ottomans and banquettes are built from the frame up when nothing stock fits the space. Roman shades, drapery and cushions are sewn in the same shop so a room can be done together.
Fabric is your call. Bring customer's own material from the D and D Building or a showroom, or choose from the velvets, linens, boucles, performance weaves, vinyls and leathers we carry. We bring sample books to your apartment when you want to see color in your own light. Quotes list labor and yardage separately so you can compare.

What furniture can be reupholstered?
Anything with a frame worth keeping: sofas, sectionals, loveseats, armchairs, wingbacks, club chairs, dining chairs, bar stools, ottomans, benches, chaises, headboards, and window seats. Even office chairs and outdoor furniture.
How do I know if my furniture is worth reupholstering?
Lift one end. If it is heavy and does not flex, the frame is hardwood and it is worth it. If it is light and wobbles, it is probably not. Send us photos and we will tell you honestly, and quote a repair or foam replacement if that is all the piece needs.
Do you make custom furniture too?
Yes. Custom headboards, benches, ottomans and banquettes are built from the frame up in our workshop to your size and fabric, which solves alcoves and window bays that stock furniture never fits.
Can you match a discontinued fabric?
Often we can harvest matching fabric from the back or underside of the piece to recover a worn panel. For a full recover we help you find the closest current fabric or a deliberate contrast.
