Cushions and Slipcovers in New York City, done properly

Seat foam has a working life of about eight to twelve years. After that it compresses, the cover wrinkles, and you sink toward the frame. If the fabric is still good, new foam is the whole fix. We measure your cushions, cut new high density foam to the original size or slightly firmer, wrap it in dacron so the cover fills out cleanly, and put it back inside the existing covers. Sofa cushions are usually back in your apartment within the week.

Custom cushions are where New York apartments get particular. Window seats in pre-war buildings, built-in banquettes in renovated kitchens in Brooklyn, radiator covers turned into benches, bay windows in Riverdale and Bay Ridge, and outdoor furniture on terraces all need cushions cut to an exact shape. We template on site, sew boxed or knife edge cushions with zippers, and fill them with foam, foam and down, or outdoor grade fill for terraces.

Slipcovers are the third option. A fitted, tailored slipcover in a washable fabric protects a sofa from kids and pets, hides fabric you are tired of, and comes off for cleaning. We cut slipcovers to the piece so they do not look like a throw. Decorative pillows, bolsters, headboard cushions and dog beds round out the small sewing work we take on.
